Dr. Enrico Purisima - Biography
Dr. Enrico Purisima
Dr. Enrico Purisima has been the Group Leader of the Computational Chemistry and Biology Group since 1999. He joined the NRC as a Research Associate in the Protein Engineering Section at the Biotechnology Research Institute (BRI) in 1989. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry (under the supervision of Professor Harold A. Scheraga) from Cornell University in 1986. Following a brief postdoctoral period with H. A. Scheraga, he is currently an adjunct professor at McGill University, Biochemistry Department, a Principal Investigator at the Protein Engineering Network Centres of Excellence (PENCE), Canada, as well as at the Montreal Joint Centre for Structural Biology (MJCSB). His research focuses on Computer-assisted molecular design, continuum solvation models, free energy calculations, structure prediction and bioinformatics. Dr. Purisima has published over 50 scientific papers and reviews.
