Dr. Feng Ni - Biography
Dr. Feng Ni
Dr. Feng Ni is the Group Leader of the Biomolecular NMR and Protein Research laboratory of the BRI. He joined the NRC as a Research Associate at the BRI in 1989. Dr. Feng Ni received his Ph.D. in biophysical chemistry (working with Professor Harold A. Scheraga) from Cornell University in 1988. He has held adjunct professorships with the Departments of Biochemistry and Chemistry, McGill University, and was a Principal Investigator of the Protein Engineering Network Centres of Excellence (PENCE), Canada, and the Montreal Joint Centre for Structural Biology (MJCSB). He is currently an adjunct professor in the Department of Medicine and the Division of Experimental Medicine, McGill University. In 1996-97, Dr. Ni set up Canada's first 800 MHz NMR facility and, during 1999-2000, started a Post-Genomics research program on dissecting cellular protein interaction networks for drug discovery. His research focuses on understanding protein-protein interactions and the design of multivalent polypeptides for therapeutic and drug-delivery applications. Dr. Ni has published over 70 scientific papers and holds a number of patents in the area of novel anticoagulant DTIs (direct thrombin inhibitors).
